Partnership offers unmatched beef production insights and the chance to win a crush and weighing system

To celebrate Beef Australia 2024, world-leading animal management innovators, Gallagher, and Australian-owned livestock analysis software company, Black Box Co, are partnering to offer producers easy access to cattle data insights, as well as the opportunity to win an all-in-one crush and weighing system.

The AP+ Black Box Starter Bundle combines Gallagher’s Animal Performance Plus (AP+) with Black Box Co’s Data Starter Pack, at a heavily discounted price, allowing producers to analyse their cattle data with a single click of a button.

While Gallagher customers have been able to integrate data with Black Box for some time, the software company Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Emma Black, said introducing the AP+ integration demonstrated Black Box’s focus on working collaboratively to make data insights as convenient and intuitive as possible for producers.

“Previously, producers with Gallagher systems could only upload individual session files into Black Box before they could view the data on the interactive dashboards,” Ms Black said.

“This can become time consuming for busy producers and it is easy to fall behind on data uploads.

“Through the integration, the data can now flow directly into Black Box via WIFI, meaning insights are there for producers whenever they need them.”

Sixth-generation producer Lindsay Brown says within minutes from processing a mob in the yard, the Gallagher/Black Box integration allows him to view and analyse the data on the screen.

Linking data across the supply chain showcased at Beef2024

The thought of linking crush-side data with feedlot feedback and carcase performance data can often be overwhelming for producers, however Ms Black said the Black Box team would be on hand at Beef2024 to showcase how simple it can be with the right tools and support.

“We encourage people to come and have a chat with us during Beef2024 and see how easy it is to link their crush-side data to Black Box,” she said.

“With just one click of the cloud button on the Gallagher TWR-5, producers will have all the data they need to inform management and marketing decisions.”

Renowned globally for designing animal management systems to support customers looking to manage their business more efficiently and profitably, Rod Johnson, General Manager for Gallagher Australia, said Australian farmers needed real-time information to make decisions on their animals to avoid double handling.

“Digitising and automating information helps them save time and money on labour and removes the risk of human error when recording data,” Mr Johnson said.

“We have received really positive feedback from users about the partnership with Black Box, which has made collecting and analysing data faster and more convenient for them.”

Integration reaps benefits for sixth-generation producer

Sixth-generation producer Lindsay Brown is Station Manager at Bogunda Pastoral, south of Prairie, North Queensland, and uses Gallagher to collect crush-side data quickly and easily for his 1,600 predominantly Droughtmaster and Limousin-infused breeding stock.

Having initially used the Gallagher system to collect cattle data, Lindsay spent quite a bit of time researching different ways to analyse the information, before settling on using Black Box.

“Nothing really came close to the Black Box system, which we continue to use to this day to get the best value out of the data we’ve been collecting,” Lindsay said.

“The Gallagher hardware is great for collecting data and works hand-in-hand with Black Box.”

By adopting a system that is more accessible for the wider team, Lindsay said he avoids double handling data, and can upload animal data as soon as it’s collected, rather than waiting until after a full round of mustering.

“Now Gallagher has done the integration with Black Box, it’s become very simple to hit the sync on the TWR-5,” he said.

“It will automatically upload the data to the Black Box cloud, and then within 10 minutes, you’re viewing that mob you’ve just processed in the yards and analysing the data on the screen.”

Win an all-in-one crush and weighing system at Beef2024

As part of the Black Box and Gallagher partnership, Mr Johnson said Gallagher was giving away a Gallagher Norton Weigh-Ready Crush system at Beef2024, with a total prize value of $26,975.00 RRP.

“The Norton Weigh-Ready Crush range is an integrated Gallagher solution that allows for safe and easy data collection,” he said.

“The prize pack includes a Gallagher Norton Super Heavy Duty Vet Squeeze, heavy-duty wireless load bars, a TWR-5 Weigh Scale and a panel antenna.

“Black Box Co will have the Weigh-Ready Crush system on display at their site, so we encourage people to come and see it in action.

“For the lucky winner, there will be free delivery to the winner’s farm, regardless of where they are located in Australia.”

Entry is via a QR Code on special flyers at Beef2024, and entrants double their chances when they visit both the Gallagher and Black Box sites.
